📰 Iran Conflict: Gulf States Raise Alarm and Issue Urgent Appeal

Vienna –
The official news agency of Qatar has reported that ambassadors from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries — stationed at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna — have expressed grave concern over the safety of Iran’s nuclear facilities located near the borders of over sixty countries.

The warnings came during a high-level meeting with IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi, where diplomats from the GCC cautioned about the “dangerous consequences” that could arise if Israel were to strike Iran’s nuclear installations.

The Gulf Cooperation Council comprises Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, and Kuwait — nations that have long voiced anxiety about instability stemming from Iran’s nuclear activities.

⚠️ "High-risk consequences"
During the meeting, the diplomats underscored the potential for nuclear fallout — especially the contamination of air and regional water resources — if military conflict erupts near sensitive nuclear sites.

This statement follows a confusing announcement last Thursday by the Israeli military, in which they claimed to have targeted Iran’s Bushehr nuclear power plant. The statement was later retracted, with Israeli officials calling it a mistake. Bushehr remains Iran’s only operational nuclear power station.

🌍 Regional Fear Intensifies
For years, Gulf nations have feared that any attack on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure could lead to radioactive pollution across the Gulf, affecting millions of civilians and undermining critical natural resources like air and water.

🧭 Summary:

The Gulf states' urgent plea to the IAEA reflects growing regional anxiety over escalating tensions between Iran and Israel. As fears of military escalation rise, the global community may soon be compelled to step in diplomatically to prevent a wider catastrophe.
