Nawrocki, speaking to the BBC, described the Russian President as “untrustworthy” and warned that European governments alone lack the leverage necessary to prevent further destabilization in Eastern Europe.
Highlighting the urgency of the situation, President Nawrocki emphasized that Russia’s aggression against Ukraine has left many European nations struggling to respond effectively. “Putin is a man who cannot be trusted,” he said. “European countries need to do everything they can to support Trump in his efforts to confront Russia and stop its military operations in Ukraine.”
The Polish President’s remarks come amid heightened tensions in the region following repeated Russian incursions and sophisticated drone attacks. Nawrocki referenced a recent large-scale Russian drone operation in September 2025, during which more than 20 unmanned aerial vehicles crossed Belarus and Ukraine before entering Polish airspace. He warned that Europe risks becoming increasingly disconnected from Washington, a situation that could undermine both economic stability and military security within the European Union. “What Trump is doing for Europe deserves our support and respect,” he stated, underscoring his belief that US leadership remains essential to safeguarding the continent.
During his London visit, Nawrocki held meetings with UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and other officials, reinforcing the importance of the Poland-UK alliance. He highlighted that nearly one million Polish citizens currently reside in the United Kingdom and expressed appreciation for the role of UK forces stationed in Poland as part of NATO’s eastern flank. “I would like to express my gratitude to the British soldiers in Poland who shoulder the responsibility of supporting NATO’s eastern borders,” he said.
On economic and diplomatic matters, President Nawrocki praised the growing Polish economy and expressed optimism about Poland’s participation in the upcoming G20 summit in the UK, signaling a desire for stronger international partnerships. He also reiterated his concern that Europe’s current political and strategic approaches are insufficient to counter challenges such as Russia’s aggression, irregular migration, and climate-related disruptions.
