1. UK Warns Israel Over Palestinian Statehood
The British government has issued a stern warning to Israel not to take retaliatory actions against Palestine following the UK’s recognition of a Palestinian state.
Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper emphasized that Israel must not attempt to annex parts of the occupied West Bank, as such moves would directly obstruct the creation of a Palestinian state.
Her remarks came ahead of a major meeting in New York, where several European countries led by France are expected to officially recognize Palestine.
On Sunday, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer announced the UK’s recognition of Palestine, marking a major policy shift in Britain’s stance on the long-standing Israel–Palestine conflict.
In response, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the move, describing it as “a huge reward for terrorism.”
2. Somalia Thanks Egypt for Support
The Somali government expressed its gratitude to Egypt for standing by Somalia in areas of security and stabilization.
A press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlighted Egypt’s consistent support, stressing that it reflects the deep and historic ties between the two nations.
In addition to providing military training and equipment, Egypt is also expected to deploy troops to join the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), strengthening regional stability.
3. Trump and Musk Shake Hands at Charlie Kirk’s Memorial
Tens of thousands of people gathered at State Farm Stadium in Arizona to honor the late conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was killed last week.
The memorial brought together key Republican figures, including Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
A surprise moment came when Donald Trump and billionaire Elon Musk shook hands on stage. The gesture drew widespread attention, given their recent political rift.
Once close allies, the two had not appeared together publicly for years. Their handshake sparked speculation about a possible reconciliation and renewed political cooperation.
4. Netanyahu: “Palestinians Will Never Have a State”
In a defiant response, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu dismissed the recognition of Palestine by the UK, Canada, Australia, and Portugal.
He accused Western leaders of “rewarding terrorism” and declared that “Palestinians will never have a state.”
Meanwhile, France and other European nations are preparing to follow suit at the upcoming UN General Assembly in New York.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas welcomed the recognition, describing it as “a step toward lasting peace.”
The United States also described the move as an “attractive development.”
At the same time, reports confirmed that 71 Palestinians were killed in Gaza on Sunday, underscoring the deepening humanitarian crisis.
Today, more than 140 countries worldwide officially recognize Palestine as an independent state.
